News for Club Members

The July 2004 reunion marked the retirement of Colin Reid, and we wrote to all old scholars from Colin's time for whom we had an address. If you didn't hear from us, it probably means we don't know where you are - please contact us with a current address. The response was good and well over three hundred old scholars came back to enjoy themselves and to say goodbye to Colin and Betsy, and to Mick Bee and Geoff Edwards who were also retiring.

The 2005 summer reunion marked the ninetieth anniversary of the school, and we contacted all old scholars from the time of Nicholas and Lyn Harris, as well as subscribers from more recent years. Again, a large number of old scholars came back to meet up with each other and the new Head, Donald Wilkinson.

Many old scholars will already have heard that Donald Wilkinson resigned early in the Autumn term 2007. Richard Palmer was appointed as Acting Head, and in December 2007 was confirmed by the Governors as the permanent head of the school. He and his family moved into Arunfield during the Christmas holidays.

The subsequent 2007 summer reunion had a good turnout, especially at Sunday lunch: it seemed that a number of old scholars had come back particularly to hear Richard Palmer speak. Comments which reached the club afterwards indicated that his "State of the Nation" speech was very well received, and that the majority of old scholars are very pleased to see him in charge.

One of Richard's innovations has been a Head's blog. To read his latest, click here.

We mail out two newsletter booklets a year, one in the late autumn, one around May. We can only afford to send these to subscribers on a regular basis, but the subscription is a mere £5 a year to cover printing and postage costs to anywhere in the world. To know more, go to newsletters.

Does anyone know the whereabouts of any of the following? In each case have had enquiries from contemporaries who would like to get in touch with them.

If you know the whereabouts of any of these please ask them to contact us.

The Club is keen to collect memorabilia from earlier years. If you have school magazines, programmes for events, photographs, any sort of ephemera from your schooldays that you no longer wish to keep, we would be very glad to add to our collection. We also welcome photographs which can be lent to us for scanning and return.
